How to Enhance the Effectiveness of your Vision Board
You're probably familiar with the concept of the Vision Board, especially if you've seen "The Secret" DVD or follow teachers like Jack Canfield and John Assaraf. If not, a VB is a collage of photos, magazine clippings of images pinned to a cork-board, that represents what you want to be, do and have. Perhaps you are already using one to remind yourself of the goals and dreams you are aiming for.
I've had a few boards over the last couple of years, and needed to update them often. I've quickly gotten what was pinned on the board, or achieved what the picture represented.
Here's a super-quick tip to enhance the effectiveness of your VB ten-fold:
First, make sure there is a picture of you right in the center of it. This serves to strengthen the association between you and your goals. Then, take a snapshot of your board and print it out small size. Write your main goal or vision on the back, and stick it in your wallet or pocket. Every time you go to pay for something or grab your keys you see it and are immediately reminded of your goals and passions and you quickly refocus on what you want. Pretty soon, you will be filled with the powerful emotions those images inspire the instant you look at them.
This kind of visual reinforcement is so much more effective than trying to "talk yourself up," as when reciting positive affirmations.
The collage board "works" by reinforcing the goal images in your mind and stirring feelings of passion, joy, excitement (and whatever other emotions you wish to associate with your images). It is a great tool to enhance the power of focus.
If you're not already using a vision board, I highly recommend it. A cork-board, some thumb tacks, a printer and you are away!
